BLOOMFIELD, Ind. (Nov. 1, 2019) -- UDWI Board of Directors members received their Credentialed Cooperative Director (CCD) Certificate from the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA). The process consisted of completing five courses designed to provide essential knowledge and skills required of cooperative directors.
This is the first part of NRECA’s three-part certification process. The CCD certification courses focus on basic governance understanding and prepares directors to fulfill their fiduciary duty as elected officials serving on behalf of their membership. The course topics include:
Director Duties and Liabilities
Understanding the Electric Business
Board Operations and Process
This certification must be achieved by directors if they wish to rerun for a second term as a board member.
“We plan to continue the certification process with NRECA and challenge our board members to keep bettering themselves,” said UDWI CEO Doug Childs. “We want to keep growing and improving for our members.”
After completing the CCD certification, directors can then pursue the Board Leadership Certificate, which consists of a series of courses focusing in greater depth on specific industry and governance issues.
