Mike Williams is a partner in two CPA firms, Michael E. Williams CPA and Hartman and Williams LLC. His work includes preparing income tax returns, forensic accounting, and assisting governmental units throughout Indiana. Previously, he spent 33 years working with the Indiana State Board of Accounts as a Field Examiner, Field Supervisor,
and Deputy State Examiner. The latter was an appointment by former Indiana Governor Evan Bayh.
Williams has served several community organizations, including Bloomfield Rotary, Linton Elks, Lyons Lions Club, and Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce and as past President for the Greene County Community Event Board.
Williams’ concern of the REMC expenditures, past management, board decisions, and lack of transparency has fueled his decision to run for a seat. If elected, he hopes to help keep costs and rates as low as possible and also improve board transparency. In addition, he plans to push to have the Indiana State Board of Accounts become the audit agency for all Indiana REMC’s. He believes his accounting and management background will help make him successful as a director.
He graduated from L&M High School and later from Indiana State University with a B.S. in Accounting. He also passed the Certified Public Accountant’s examination. He currently resides in rural Lyons with his wife, Dee.
