District 1 Director David Burger is a lifelong resident of Jasonville and a self-employed farmer who lives on the property that he farms. He enjoys his life in the rural area and being able to make a living there. David and his wife, Pamela, have two children and two grandchildren.
A graduate of Shakamak High School, he earned an associate degree in agribusiness from Vincennes University. Burger was employed for 15 years at a manufacturing plant in Brazil, serving ten of those years as plant manager. For the past 18 years, he has been the owner and operator of the family farm established by his grandfather and father. He considers this a great privilege and accomplishment, a legacy he hopes to pass down to his son.
Burger has served in several local organizations. He currently serves as director of the Guirl Ditch Association and Jasonville Housing Authority. He is also a member of the Masonic Lodge #29 of Lewis and the Scottish Rite and Zorah Shrine, both of Terre Haute. Burger is a long-term member of the Lawton Street Christian Church, serving 39 years in numerous positions. He also served on the Jasonville Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years, retiring as assistant chief. He is a former member of the Clay County 4-H Council.
Burger cites his past and current experiences as the driving force for his interest in his local electric cooperative. As director, he promises to help improve the quality of life for members and their families by representing them professionally and personally on an honest, dependable, and member-driven level.
